The Idea
This project began with a 4 panel grid on a piece of 11"x 14" Bristol Board, at a wobbly desk in the corner of a drafty, old living room. After the first 2 panels were done, I realized that I drew the figures in business casual attire. Soon the idea emerged to dress them all that way and find a way to anthropomorphize sensory experiences.
The Process
I followed the tried-and-true comic art approach of pencils to inks to color. While I did most of my thinking through my penciling, the pieces really started to feel substantial once I applied black ink and hatch-marks. The final step of adding digital color brought them to life and added a sort of pop art quality to the pieces.
